  2.           In today society, many people like to follow the 
  3.  
  4. current.  They want to catch the wave.  Which mean, it does not 
  5.  
  6. matter if things were good or bad, right or wrong, they just 
  7.  
  8. follow and do them without any thinking.  Therefore, there are 
  9.  
  10. not too many people would like to be a normal, thoughtful nor 
  11.  
  12. neutral person.  However, in the novel, The Great Gatsby, by 
  13.  
  14. Scott Fitzgerald, one of the character name is Nike Carroway, he 
  15.  
  16. was the good and neutral narrator.  It was because, in the novel,
  17.  
  18. he analyzed all of the things with regard to accuracy of 
  19.  
  20. observation.

  23.           In The Great Gatsby, when Mr.Gatsby told Vick he wanted
  24.  
  25. to return the past over again with his lover- Daisy, Nike 
  26.  
  27. Carroway warned him to give it up, because it was impossible.  
  28.  
  29. Unforturately, Mr.Gatsby was not believe it.  So at the end, 
  30.  
  31. Mr.Gatsby's dream still had not came true because Daisy did not 
  32.  
  33. break up with Tom and go with him.  It can be seen in the last 
  34.  
  35. chapter on the novel, when Gatsby was murder, Daisy went to 
  36.  
  37. somewhere else with her husband, and did not go to Gatsby's 
  38.  
  39. funeray.

  42.           I called up Daisy half and hour after we found him,
  43.           called her instinctively and without hersitation. But
  44.           she and Tom had gone away early that afternoon, and
  45.           taken baggage with them.

  48.           Therefore, Nike Carroway's analysis was right by these 
  49.  
  50. clear observation.

  55.           However, Nike Carroway is a good narrator, he sees 
  56.  
  57. everything happen and does not trust everybody easily.  So during
  58.  
  59. the people discuss about something at a time, he does not believe
  60.  
  61. it is true.  After he proves it, he will accept the truth.

  64.           Moreover, when Nike went to Gatsby's party, there is a 
  65.  
  66. drunk lady telling everyone Gatsby killed a man before.

  69.           Somebody told me they thought he killed a man once.

  72.           Also, there is one more lady said that Gatsby was a
  73. German spy:

  76.           It is more that he was a German spy during the war.

  79.           Nike heard it, but when Nike had a chance to have a 
  80.  
  81. lunch with Gatsby, he told Nike, he was an Oxford man and show 
  82.  
  83. him that fought in World War One.  Then Nike knew Gatsby was not 
  84.  
  85. a German Spy nor a murderer.

  88.           Furthermore, at the end of the novel, when Daisy drove 
  89.  
  90. Gatsby's car and killed Mrs.Wilson in a car accident, Nike's 
  91.  
  92. first though Gatsby killed Mrs.Wilson.  But after Gatsby told him
  93.  
  94. all of the things at that moment, then Nike was thinking and 
  95.  
  96. discuss between Gatsby and Tom's speaking, and make his own 
  97.  
  98. conclusion.  Therefore, Nike was a thoughtful man and his is not 
  99.  
  100. afraid to face anything around him.  By these facts, he had a 
  101.  
  102. clear mind and reliable in his observations, so it can make 
  103.  
  104. people believe Nike Carroways was a neutral and clear mind 
  105.  
  106. narrator of this novel, because this can be seen in Nike's 
  107.  
  108. personality.

  110.           In the novel, Nike was also a neutral narrator too 
  111.  
  112. becasue he is the narrator who described everything clearly and 
  113.  
  114. accurately.  He was trustful because he described everything 
  115.  
  116. without any personal point of view; By the way, throughout the 
  117.  
  118. whole story, he didn't defenses for any characters nor put any of
  119.  
  120. his self-feeling in it.  That's why he is a character who strived
  121.  
  122. for neutrality.

  125.           On the other hand, when Mr.Gatsby tells Tom that Daisy 
  126.  
  127. will leave Tom because she loves Tom no more, it's full of fire's
  128.  
  129. atomsphere and emotion.

  131.           " I've got something to tell you, old sport- " began
  132.           Gatsby. But Daisy guessed at his intention.
  133.           " Please don't!" she interrupted helplessly." Please
  134.           let's all go home.  Why don't we all go home?"
  135.           " That's a good idea." I got up. " Come on, Tom. 
  136.           Nobody wants a drink."
  137.           " I want to know what Mr.Gatsby has to tell me."
  138.           " Your wife doesn't love you," said Gatsby. "She's
  139.           never loved you.  She loves me."
  140.      
  141.           At that time, if Nike was not in a neutral position, he
  142.  
  143. must help Gatsby or Tom.  But, he did not join in the argument 
  144.  
  145. between Gatsby and Tom.  He just put himself in a corner, keeping
  146.  
  147. quiet and see whatelse would happened in page 131 to page 135.

  149.           Therefore, we can see that Nike was a neutral man and a
  150.  
  151. narrator who just care on the truth observation for sure in here.

  154.           It is so clear that Nike was a trustful man, so, by his
  155.  
  156. unjustice information, and his truthful and accurate observation,
  157.  
  158. the reader were sure that he  is standing on neutral position, 
  159.  
  160. and the person who does not follow other people.  By his 
  161.  
  162. Fantastic personality - does not believe everything nor what most
  163.  
  164. other people said easily, it shows that Nike can standing on 
  165.  
  166. neutral position truly because of his knowledge and clever.
